2019 Christmas Tree Throwing Championships

A fantastic afternoon was had last Sunday, 6th January at Active Ennis Tim Smythe Park for the Annual Irish International Christmas Tree Throwing Competition.  This event, in it’s 8th year and organised by Active Ennis, Clare County Council, saw over 150 participants compete to see how far they could throw a Christmas Tree.  Winners as follows:

Under 10 girls – Aimee Travers, Clarecastle with a throw of 4 metres

Under 10 boys – Liam O Neill with a throw of 4.70 metres

10-14 yrs girls – Lauren Leahy with a throw of 4.50 metres

10-14 yrs boys – Odhran O Farrell with a throw of 4.86 metres

Adult Female – Mandy Murphy with a throw of 3.87 metres

Adult Male – John Leahy with a throw of 7 metres

All participants were entered into a draw to win a years family membership of Active Ennis Leisure Complex and the lucky winners were the O Reilly family, Gort Road, Ennis.

€419.83 was raised on the day for Cahercalla Hospice – a big thank you to all who contributed.

A big thank you also to Kavanaghs Spar, Lifford Road for their refreshments provided on the day.
